My prom was last Friday, June 5. My hair was at 3:45, so I left straight from school. I wanted my hair up because I didn’t want to be sweatier than necessary. It ended up looking kind of like a French twist, but with more detail.
Our prom flowers were orchids and blue delphinium to match the blue accents on my dress.
Because it was raining (what a Debbie-downer), we did pictures inside my house. We used our dining room, living room, and family room to take pictures and as a place to have snacks. Prom was close by, so we all drove in our own cars and almost everyone carpooled because we were all going to the same friends house for post-prom.
The actual prom itself was a lot of fun. The venue was really beautiful, and the food for cocktail hour was absolutely delicious. One of my friends was on prom committee, and she said they spent the most money on food so that everyone would eat it. (Previous years, no one touched the food because it wasn’t that good, and there were better things to do.)
The one thing I wish had been done differently was the music. The DJ played almost only techno remixes. One or two are ok, but it’s annoying to hear all night long. He also failed to play a single slow song … it’s prom. Slow songs are essential. However, the general mood and the people we were with made up for the bad DJ job, and we still had a great time.

Prom was awesome! Everything about it from the limo ride there to the way my friends looked to the way I looked to my date’s responsibility (I know…shocking!) to PROM itself!
Everything worked itself out. Now that all this preparation is over with, I don’t know what to do with myself! Nothing to look forward to now except for graduating high school and heading off to college (which is so exciting for everyone).
I know many proms are over (some LONG over) and mine was pretty late but I hope that everyone that already had prom…even if it was so long ago…had a fabulous time :)!
Thanks Caché for providing me with gorgeous jewelry and a gorgeous gown. I loved it!

I am so excited for prom! Mine is finally here on Thursday and it seems like it is so much later than everyone else’s.
With that being said I have so much to do! I have to make sure my dress fits, my shoes fit and feel comfortable, double check my jewelry, my bag, my hair extensions. I have to get my nails done, a pedicure, make myself have a natural glow, figure out make up options, figure out how I am going to wear my hair. I have to make sure my date is ready with his tuxedo, figure out what we are doing as far as pre-pre-prom, figure out what I am doing right after prom. I have to pack for my prom weekend, make sure I paid everyone that needs to be paid, and make sure I am not stressed or panicky!
It seems like I have so much to do but actually I am one hundred percent relaxed and okay. And since I already know what I have to do, it will make it very much easier to do it.
Biggest goal, though = HAVE FUN ON YOUR SENIOR PROM NIGHT
If you haven’t had yours, enjoy it! I hope I enjoy mine!

I want to talk about beauty.
Majority of the girls in my school have been going to get a spray tan or going fake tanning at tanning salons. Or they have been worshiping every moment of sun available to them.
Most girls have been starting to diet to lose their “extra pounds” around their insecure areas.
As I previously mentioned, I considered getting hair extensions and I did get them. But I got the clip in kind not the kind that you have to sew them into your head. That was a smart decision because I don’t think I’d really want fake hair in my head. But the ones I got were real-hair hair extensions that clip in. Averaging prices are from $60 to $90 depending on the store and the brand of hair. Make sure to ask the salespeople for help if you are like me and completely unfamiliar with the fakeness.
It makes sense to me that everyone wants to look their best and I am also a victim of doing things to make myself look better or DIFFERENT on prom night.
I’m so worried for this prom about the girls in my school and the FAKE factor.
There are so many FAKE things you can have, and I don’t even mean an attitude.
Fake hair, fake eyelashes, fake nails, fake tan, you can fake your body shape with Spanx, you can fake your height with heels.
And though majority of girls are criminals in at least one of the above, it is important to know to feel beautiful the way you are. Know that you don’t want to look like a complete stranger in the pictures from prom night. Because when you look back at them, it won’t even look like you. So though you can alter your appearance anyway you need or want to.
Make sure you tie in most of the REAL YOU and your PERSONALITY into your look. Maybe a certain hairstyle, a certain makeup style, a certain piece of jewelry. But be you and be unique. Don’t be 100% fake. So you can create your memories that are REAL and TRUE.

Hey guys!
So prom was amazing!!! Everything worked out so great with my kind of unfortunate plans. The Friday before prom my boyfriend Danny and I went out to dinner and did pictures and did all that fun stuff that we wouldn’t get to do the day of prom because he was playing lacrosse in the state championship.
Well, he ended up winning! And directly after the game, my best friends and I drove straight back to Charlotte from Raleigh to the hotel we had rented for a couple hours just to get ready.
But then we went straight to the prom and had so much fun! The theme was “Fire and Ice” and was decorated so awesome that we couldn’t help but have a blast! I’m just super excited for next year’s prom!!

Hey everyone,
Prom was Friday and it was THE BOMB!
My friends and I danced the night away! The prom was great, the party bus was great, and Wildwood (Jersey shore) was great. My friends were stunning and there was an amazing energy the whole night.
I was in a wonderful mood while getting ready for prom. Here’s what I did before and during the preparation:
- The senior class was dismissed from school early, so when I came home, I napped for two hours
- I woke up an hour before my hair appointment to take a shower and blow my hair
- I went to my hair appointment (*with photos of what I wanted) and my hair came out exactly as I’d wanted
- I had my makeup done
- I got dressed at my house
- I went to my friend’s house to take pictures
The key factors in my ease of preparation were that I had all my appointment times straight, and that I was well-rested. Make sure you do these things, because I promise—they work!
Sadly, this is my last post, so I want to wish all of you a prom night that you’ll cherish forever.
I really enjoyed sharing my thoughts and advice with all of you. Thanks for listening!

Prama: noun; exciting, tense, and gripping actions revolving around prom.
This is the dirty side of prom that most people don’t think about or remember until around 3 weeks before. Prama usually occurs over split second decisions that leave some people hurt and left out. Personally, I haven’t really had to deal with it until today. We planned out our tables back in March to eliminate any issues and so people could adjust to who they were sitting with.
Well, all planning went out the window when our principal said prom bids would be going on sale at our senior breakfast. So now our group is split really unevenly and everyone is upset about it. Why isn’t it getting fixed? Prama has side effects: it paralyzes its victims and keeps them from thinking logically and getting things back on track, and it makes people not want to go to prom anymore. Pretty much a giant party-pooper.
I’ve been excited for senior prom since I realized there was a prom, aka for like 11 years. Now I just want the night to be over with already so I don’t have to deal with the ridiculous behavior. Prom is in 22 days. Hopefully this will all be resolved by then, or the night is going to have a seriously gloomy atmosphere.

Okay so something serious to talk about! My prom is in two weeks but many girls in my grade have already bought something…A tanning package!
Now this is completely unsafe and definitely expensive, but everyone wants to look good and bronze for prom. Which is reasonable but totally dangerous! So here is another way to look tan without killing yourself!
SPRAY TAN! There is a salon in Summit called Girl From Ipanema where I got spray tanned last year. It only lasted about two weeks but what was so great about it was that they made a custom tan color to match my skin. Which was awesome because I didn’t look like I was faking it and it looked like it was my real skin color.
The downside to spray tanning is that it can be kind of costly for such a short-term result. Yet I would rather pay thirty bucks for one safe time than seventy for a month of harmful UV rays that can lead to skin cancer.
It’s up to you. Plus, not for anything, in the olden days, being pale was in! If you were pale it showed you were a wealthy true beauty. So if you don’t want to be tan, that’s fine, you’ll still be beautiful.

I am so so SO SO excited for prom! And I just finished up buying some jewelery and handbags from Caché. One of the important things I have learned from shopping there is to make sure you ask the saleslady (or salesman) for help. First of all, she will always be able to tell you what looks good with your particular dress. Secondly, a lot of the Caché stores are selling out of their accessory items … and fast! So ask her to look them up for you online, so that way you will be able to get what you want.
I ended up choosing between these two earring items:

Sparkle Chandelier

Crystal Gala Earring
Since my hair will be down, I opted for the first choice. They are bigger so they will be easier to catch a glimpse of the stones in light.
Then the saleslady chose this bracelet for me, which I adore:

Five Row Rhinestone Cuff Bracelet
I didn’t opt for a necklace because I figured the pin on my dress was enough. But cute right? And they aren’t expensive either. Totally affordable.
Good luck! And get excited! My prom isn’t until June 4th but I know so many schools have already had there’s or are getting ready to have them! But I cannot wait!

Hey everyone.
My prom is this weekend. Yay! My checklist is complete (see last week’s post), except for my manicure and pedicure. I’ll do that sometime this week.
It’s great not having to plan anything this week, especially because this week is AP week, and I want to spend my time studying rather than scrambling for last minute things. To be honest, the only reason I’m organized is my contributing to this blog. I, for sure, would not have had things so well-planned if I hadn’t been writing about them. Prom planning wouldn’t have been a thought until a few weeks before the prom.
It’s important to have everything planned in advance for a few reasons.
- One, you should devote your time to things that will make you feel good. Exercising, for example, releases endorphins, and will better your physical and mental state of beings.
- Two, if you’re still planning the week before, you’re most likely going to forget something.
- And three, if there’s nothing else to think about, your thoughts will be solely focused on getting excited! This is how I’m feeling right now.
I’ll let you know how everything turns out next week! I’ll have the prom “do’s” and “don’ts,” also. Maybe I’ll try to post some pictures, too. Adiós!
